BART

The Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) is the Bay area’s main public transportation system.
If you plan to travel into San Francisco from Burlingame, note that there is no BART station in Burlingame. It is best advised that you go into San Francisco either by driving or by taxi.

North Beach

Between Fisherman’s Wharf and Chinatown lays North Beach. This historic neighborhood is home to San Francisco’s long established Italian community, which means there are a multitude of Italian restaurants to choose from. In the 1950s, North Beach became the epicenter of the Beat movement, leaving to this, day a strong café culture.

That’s right, this popular restaurant specializes in all things garlic! Also offers excellent Italian/Mediterranean and seafood.

Japantown

Not as well known or as big as Chinatown in terms of size or population.  However, Japantown is certainly worth a visit as there are also a number of quality Japanese restaurants in the vicinity, Asian style spas, a movie-plex theater, and the Japan Center for a unique cultural shopping experience seldom found in this country, including Japanese books, movies, music, furniture, clothing and cooking/dining utensils.

Mifune
One of the best Japanese venues in town.  Serves cheap, but hearty portions of soba and udon noodles and other Japanese faire.

The Mission

Established around the Spanish Mission Dolores, this is one of the oldest districts in the city. The Mission is the center of San Francisco’s Hispanic community. While there are many great Mexican/Latino and Spanish restaurants, about every kind of culture and cuisine can be found here.

The Richmond

This West San Francisco neighborhood offers some of the best and most diverse restaurants in the city from Italian, to Moroccan, to Korean to traditional American faire. It is also loaded with wonderful Chinese restaurants that the locals love. It's a great place to go if you want to avoid some of the more overtly tourist-oriented venues at Fisherman’s Wharf or Chinatown, and dine with the locals.

The Cliff House
A San Francisco classic. A far cry from the magnificent palace-like structure it once was in the 1870s, but still offers great bistro-style food and a grade-A view of the Pacific Ocean. Part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and not far from the Golden Gate Bridge.
